The faces are printed on 100% cotton poplin. But when it comes to the body, you can use many fabrics. Use one color for the body or mix and match colors and patterns for a fun look. Some fabrics to use for the body include quilting cottons, muslin, flannel, ultrasuede and light vinyl.

Matching the skin tone

The easiest way to find coordinating fabrics is to take the faces into a fabric store to compare fabric colors and textures. If you are using the free cloth doll pattern, the head and neck are separate pieces. This gives you a lot more freedom when matching skin tones or using patterned fabric for the neck and bodice.

Seeking a closer match?

I get it--some of us want the skin tones to match, especially when it comes to hands. For this reason, I designed two Spoonflower fabrics in solid shades to match the face skin tones.

Important note, Spoonflower recently changed their printing methods for cotton poplin. Many of the faces currently available in my shop were printed using the older method, so the newer poplin printing is not an exact color match. Here you can see the slight differences (faces with the old fabric and body fabric with the new, cotton poplin ultra). For a limited time, Spoonflower is offering the cotton poplin in the old printing style so you can get a perfect match (look for "Retired Cotton Poplin").
