Shiny Finds

This week, I visited local thrift shops to harvest tiny knit stripes and patterns (for doll stockings mostly). I found some great prints which will be debuting soon on some dolls. I also found some random stuff such as the kokeshi doll shown above. She is quite large and was $10. I don't really collect them, but I do think they are cool. I had a miniature one when I was little. Her head slipped off her neck peg very easily and I used to find it cathartic to pull it off and put it back on in slow successions. I don't remember what happened to her. But anyway, here is a pin doll I made recently with a kokeshi theme. "Kokeshi Kim"

I also found these really happy pens at Walgreens when I was waiting for my prescriptions:

Yay!

Cool finds Jess! Those pens are really fun - and your pin dolls, as always, are fantastic.

Just out of curiosity, since I saw one in your picture here. What pins dolls have you made that you just couldn't part with?

Thanks Sue :]

silentsongbird, I kept my first batch--there were only 4.5 dolls in batch one. (the .5 being one I never finished, poor thing) I hold onto the pictures for all of them though :]

Hey Jessica!

I have a little collection of kokeshi dolls, which I love! It started out as they were old and wooden (things I collect as well) and once a got a couple, I had to get a couple more. I have seven altogether. My Lil Kawaii Pin Doll stands among that collection and fits right in! I have to take a pic to show you.

Maria, I would love to see your collection! I have a small collection of assorted dolls--some artist works and some odd/old finds. I am going to put some shelves up in the hall outside my studio to make a gallery of sorts. (Then I will have to buy more dolls to fill in the holes.)
