White Lotus Bust

She is finished as of 5/7/09. Bottom picture shows original concept sketch. I stayed pretty close to the original design--even had the odd head pom pom things on top of her head. For some reason, I drew her corset on backwards ;p. The corset is a beautiful and extremely detailed antique doll's corset. The bust is in my etsy shop.

Lotus Bust WIP

Here are the 'work in progress' pictures for my lotus bust. The head is about three inches tall. Tomorrow when I get home from the day job, I will be refining her makeup and starting her body (a bust body). Her neck looks odd here as it is just armature--no clay yet...and yes, she is wearing a ball of yarn ;p (it's temporary). I am excited to get to the costuming!

Secrets is Complete!

Just a quick post to show the completed bust :].

Secrets Bust WIP

This is the project I am currently working on. The exposed white body will be covered in collage including the pulp netting she is currently draped in.

She is called a 'secrets bust' because the front panel of her body opens to reveal a place to hide things. The panel sticks out a bit awkwardly now, but I am hoping the surrounding college work will remedy that.

The 'secret panel' is made from an Altoids tin :]. I will collage the inside of it and hide some secrets in there.

I wanted her eyes to look like they would be hard to open. The lashes almost have an eerie 'sewn shut' appearance.

Pillow Form Doll Class

Today I taught a trial run doll making class in my home. I had two ladies--Tracey and Cora from work over and we made Pillow Form Dolls. Neither one had ever sculpted a doll before, but they did great! The face was molded with one of my molds, so they look like sisters (we all tweaked our faces a bit). The rest of the doll is 100% theirs! The class took most of the day. I love how the dolls all kind of match each other. That was not planned--just happened :].
